Budget 2013
Last week, the Prime Minister has invited the public to post suggestions for the 2013 Budget to his blog and I believe that many would ask questions of personal concern. However, the best approach would be a proper financial management to help the national economy out of plight.
What would be your suggestions? Do you agree that proper financial management would help the national economy out of plight? Why or why not?

When i was young (which was not that long ago), I actually believe that I can sprout wings, fly, and can do 10 things at one time. Nobody can convince me that man cannot multi-task. It is as if I have to get a lot of things done in as short a time as possible. If my competitor can do it in 6 months, i want to do it in 6 weeks. I never turned away an idea and would totally be trying anything and everything until it gives way.
Every idea looks good, and i thought i could conquer them all. I was enthusiastic, energitic, and all positive, eager, and ready to jump into any ventures.I was totally unfocused.
In the first 4 years of being in business, aside from my lecturing, i also went into manufacturing, banking, franchsing, and anything that comes along the way. Needless to say, most of them failed. I made money in some cases, and I lost money in others. But one thing is sure, I LOST FOCUS.
In 2007 I met with Philip Kotler (marketing guru) in ASEAN Forum and in 2009, Professor Kim (Author of Blue Ocean Strategy), and two things i learnt from them changed my thinking about business and how i should run it.

First is the power of leverage and the idea that you can't do everything yourself. If the business is not leverages then it is a work-hard business, not a work smart business. That's the reason, why I kept on mentioning to my fellow students in class, to study smart.
The second thing I learnt is to run your business and not the business run you..down. The best way to run your business is to turn it into a money making machine.
I became more focused after 2009 or rather circumstance forced me to be more focused. If I choose to go into any other areas, it is either property investor, online business or educator. In retrospective, I guess the late Steve Jobs says " I AM PROUD OF WHAT WE DON'T DO AS I AM OF WHAT WE DO".
